RB
Nyheim Hines – Worth FAAB
Obvious pick up with Marlon Mack (assumed out for the year). I have to go look at the condensed game but the targets I felt came out somewhat even for both Taylor and Hines. I will have to watch to see if I feel one back was more explosive then the other. A worthy addition especially in PPR leagues. It looks like he has a safe floor in this offense going 8/45 against the Jaguars. Rivers spread out the ball quite a bit across the group but Hines was a top earner. It is possible JT takes more of a reign as the season progresses. A must own in a 12 man league. Especially PPR.
Benny Snell Jr. – Worth FAAB
Benny came in Monday night to dispel Connor after he left with an ankle injury. With the Steelers mostly in control of this game he carried it home 19/113. Benny is a must add especially if you are a Connor owner but I wouldn’t trip over myself quite yet in thinking he will be the lead dog the rest of the way. Must own in a 12 man league.
Malcolm Brown – Worth FAAB
Many people grabbed Brown off the news that he would likely be splitting carries with Akers. He vultured a goal line TD and lead the Rams in touches over Akers. He is currently the hot hand but it doesn’t mean this will play out as the season goes on. He is worth an add in case he continues the trend and to handcuff Akers in case you had drafted him early. Must own in a 12 man league.
Adrian Peterson – Worth FAAB
Adrian and Frank Gore should be in an old buddy cop film where they come out of retirement for one last job. We don’t know yet if they used Adrian first because of experience or because of lack of practice play for Swift. It is seemingly a back field to stay away from but if Adrian gets an equal amount of touches next week then he will be a viable addition. He went 14/93 and caught 3/21. If you drafted Swift he is worth picking up or if you are in need of an RB. Worthy of a spot for a 12 man league.
Jerick McKinnon
It’s been a long time he shouldn’t have left you with out a dope beat to step too. It feels like ages ago that we have seen McKinnon and he stepped in to do a little dirty work and caught 3 receptions on 5 targets and scored a TD. His stat line was 3/24 and in receiving 3/20/1. Although it was nice seeing him out there in this 3 back rotation he will be worth keeping in eye on but not necessarily pulling the trigger on to add to your team. Worthy of a spot for a 14 man league.
Royce Freeman
Royce da 6’0″ stepped in for a few snaps and is the back up to Melvin in case Lindsay is out. Lindsay got hit with turf toe and if he is out for an extended period you can surely grab Royce as insurance backup to Gordon. Worthy of a roster spot in a 14 man league.
Joshua Kelley
Kelley capitalized on his share of carries 12 v 19 against the versatile Ekeler. He did not get any dump offs but nor did Ekeler in a much different scheme with Tyrod. One could handcuff Ekeler with Kelley for insurance in case of injury. His line was 19/60/1. Worth of a roster spot for a 12 man league.
Frank Gore
Good old Frank Gore. He is like Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon and getting too old for this shit. Going 6/24 in a game script that lent itself to the pass there isn’t much to say here except if you drafted Bell and were expecting whatever production he was going to get you could replace him with Gore for the time being. The game scripts maybe similar but the Bills defense held them down. Worthy of a spot for a 12 man league.
Corey Clement
In the event Miles and Boston are hurt for their week 2 opponent Rams. Pick up Clement if you don’t have a viable RB2. Updated Reports say that Miles was fine for the game and they were just being cautious with him. Worthy of a spot in a 14 man league.
Myles Gaskin
Gaskins competed 4/26 on 4 targets and handled the brunt of rushing with Jordan nursing his hamstring. 9 carries for 40 yards. If he is gone for a period of time then Gaskins will be worth a roster spot. I would instead spend some FAAB dollars on Hines. Worthy of a spot for a 12 man league.
Peyton Barber
I never want Peyton Barber. I am putting him here because he got two touchdowns. Bias aside he was the goal line back and received a hefty amount of rushing touches with 17 with Gibson getting 9 and some receiving touches. This trend could continue and or they could be working Gibson in. Worthy of a spot in a 12 man league especially if you have Gibson and want to see how this plays out.
Carlos Hyde
If you have Carson (who did miss some practice time) and feel safe with his back up then it wouldn’t hurt to pick up Hyde who is clearly his back up as we all knew anyways. Used as they were protecting the lead. Worthy of a spot in a 14 man league.
WR
Parris Campbell – Worth FAAB
I think most of us were scared to pull the trigger on Parris in our drafts but we all assumed that he would get some “Allen” targets and he did. Rivers was the same old Rivers although I thought things would be different with a better line. He targeted across the board but Campbell was the recipient of 9 targets going 6/71 and 1 rushing attempt for 9 yards. Clearly he was utilized in this game and may give you safe floor in PPR leagues. Worth the addition. A must own in a 12 man league.
Sammy Watkins – Worth a small amount of FAAB
Yes we have gone down this road before and he started off last year with a good game as well then disappeared. I will say I think its less likely he vanishes this time around. He did have the easier match-up based on WR/CB pairings against the Texans but its worth a gamble to own him on a team that has a star QB. He was targeted 9 times for 7/82. Worthy of a roster spot in a 12 man league.
Jalen Reagor – Worth FAAB
If he was left on your waiver wire because of his injury pick him up. I was expecting more out of D-JAX for this game but that did not happen. He is worth hanging onto to see which receiver is targeting more as the season progresses but things could get murky when Alshon comes back. He was targeted 4 times in the Washington game but only secured one catch for 55 yards. This is a wait and see pick up. Worthy of a roster spot in a 12 man league.
Russell Gage – Worth FAAB
The Falcons have many games this year that could have similar game scripts. This type of even distribution among Jones, Ridley and Gage won’t happen on a weekly basis with Ryan throwing it over 50 times but Gage could have some value especially if either Ridley or Jones go down. Secured 9/114 yards against the Seahawks. A must own in a 12 man league.
Emmanuel Sanders
I wrote this week that I though Sanders would have a descent game. He continually shows up no matter what team he is on and he may be worth a grab for PPR leagues. The Saints play the Raiders week 2. I liked his usage in this game although they were running down the clock at the end. 3/15 and a touchdown although he had two red zone targets. Worthy of a roster spot in a 12 man league. – A must add in case Thomas his held out or limited because of his ankle sprain although news seems to indicate he will have a Q mark but will play.
Robbie Anderson – Worth FAAB
The Panthers are probably going to be in a negative game script for a lot of games which is why I am high on DJ Moore. 8 targets is legit though. 6/115/1. Must own in a 12 man league.
Scotty Miller
Worth a grab if Godwin or Evans goes down. Tom Brady looked to him often in the game but it could have also been because of Evans being limited. 5/73 on 6 targets. Worthy of a roster spot in a 12 man league.
Tre’Quan Smith
On the heels of news that Thomas got his ankle rolled up on Smith could be worth a tentative add in the even that Thomas sits but even if he does (I highly doubt it) I think production would be distributed among Kamara, Cook, Sanders and Murray.
Laviska Shenault
Dede was a healthy scratch. Laviska is worth an addition if you have space. A gadget player. Had 2 carries for 10 yards and 3/37/1. Worthy of a roster spot in a 12 man league.
N’keal Harry
I would have the slighest guess on what the Patriots game will be from game to game. Harry secured 5/39 in a game they could run out the clock. Worthy of a spot in a 14 man league.
Marques Valdez-Scantling
We have gone down this road as well before although reports were coming out giving him a little bit of hype. I am not trusting many receivers on this team outside of Adams. Worthy of a spot in a 14 man league. If Aaron Rodgers gets back to throwing how he used to then Scantling and Lazard may be worth rostering.
TE
Dallas Goedert – Worth FAAB
I liked Goedert anyways and have him in all my leagues but it doesn’t mean this will happen every week. 8/101/1 line. You can wonder if the Eagles purposefully want to do this so they don’t have to pay out Ertz but either way if you have Ertz or have space for another TE it couldn’t hurt to pick up Goedert. A must own for a 12 man league. Much of this increase also had to do with their tight end sets as the running back were down for the count.
TJ Hockenson
I would like to see how this distribution goes when Kenny is healthy. Laid a 5/56/1 line that is promising. I wouldn’t go out of your way to grab TJ if you are secure at tight end. Worthy of a roster spot in a 12 man league for a possible spot start next week or if you want to see how this plays out.
Logan Thomas
Had 8 targets and gets a juicy match up against one of the leagues worst TE defense the Cardinals.
QB
Qb pickups I have to note are not necessarily for the season unless you have room. These are more about spots starts for next week or if needed. For the exception of Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers – Worth FAAB
I did drop Aaron Rodgers before the start of the season because I have Josh Allen. I was hoping he would stay on the wire for a bit to pick up later. He has the Lions next week and the Falcons in two weeks. Rodgers also has some viable playoff starts in case you have a “running” QB who has a tough playoff stretch. His week 14 and 15 are against the Lions and Panthers. A must own in a 12 man league.
Mitch Trubisky
Going up against a pass funnel Giants defense who played the Steelers Monday Night. I was already predicting Mitch (although it was in the last half) would do better then expected against the Lions only based on his previous games with them where he has continually thrown for 3 touchdowns. A 2 QB league streaming option.
Dwayne Haskins
A plus matchup against the Cardinals if you are somehow in a pinch or in a 2 QB or superflex league. A 2 QB league streaming option.
Baker Mayfield
Yes he had a bad game today against the Ravens but that was as to be expected. The Browns we will see will show up next week against the Bengals. The arrow will go up at least for one week. A 2 QB league streaming option.
Joe Burrow
Same thing playing against the Browns if he finishing out this game against the Chargers somewhat okay. He did have 28 yards and a running TD at the time I am writing this. A 2 QB league streaming option.
Jimmy G
A plus matchup against the Jets although with injuries at WR the 49ers didn’t put the greatest performance against the Cardinals especially too high passes to Kittle which almost cost him a few weeks off. A 2 QB league streaming option.
Tyrod Taylor
Going up against the Chiefs he is going to have to run and throw to keep pace but someone I am not personally targeting unless you are in 2 QB league or superflex. A 2 QB league streaming option.
